The neck is especially sensitive to injuries, being somewhat prone to systemic repercussions, with so many components critical to your survival in a relatively narrow and vulnerable space. The whiplash accident, in which the head can be jerked in any direction, often in two opposing directions, is not only caused by a car accident.

It can also be from any blow to the head, as often happens in contact sports, physical abuse, or a fall.

No doubt, the impact can be both an emotional and a physical shock to your system. The gentle approach of NSA Care was specifically designed to unwind the trauma and physical disruption to the protective connective tissue. Connective tissue that was meant to hold everything together, allowing your neck, spine and spinal cord to move peacefully throughout the day.
Depending on the health of your spine and the circumstances of the accident, left untreated, symptoms may show up any time after the initial shock, quite often taking days, weeks, or even months before they appear:
- Headaches
- Pain or stiffness in Neck
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
- Blurred vision
- Pain or tenderness in the shoulders, upper back, or arms
- Numbness or tingling down the arms
- Tinnitus
- Problems with sleep, memory, or concentrating
It’s better to be proactive rather than reactive – getting your spine checked as soon as possible. Your symptoms may be any of the above, stemming from an unpredictable combination of damage to nerves, muscles, joints, and connective tissues.
All of which can be completely healed, allowing you to ease your way back to being yourself again – physically and emotionally. Dr. Gardner will be able to observe how all the affected parts are ready to and designed to instinctively respond, guiding your recovery to the point where it’s even possible for you to be healthier than you were before the accident.
What about auto insurance for recent car accident?
Most of the time, the simplest path is for us to bill your own auto policy’s Medical Payments (MedPay) or PIP coverage directly. All we usually need is the medical claim number and the name and phone number of the adjuster handling the medical portion. When that coverage is available, it often means little or no out-of-pocket cost for you while you are under care – subject to the limits of your policy.
If the claim is being handled through the at-fault driver’s insurance or through an attorney, the process is different and payment typically comes later. In those situations we simply ask for the attorney’s or adjuster’s contact information so we can coordinate records and documentation directly with them.
How you handle this is always your decision. In Maryland, insurance companies cannot raise your premiums just for making a PIP claim for the medical care. Even if you were at fault for the accident, you may still use your PIP coverage.
